November 2013 in Leuven.
I read a review in the newspaper of this new production by Rosas, and it intrigued me so much I went online to see if there were still any seats available for the two Leuven performances. Except for seats way up in the third balcony, it was sold out. I didn't want to sit way up in the third balcony. However...there was just one seat empty for one performance in the front row. Like it was waiting for me. I bought it.
It was my first experience seeing a Rosas performance, I had no idea what to expect. I was completely blown away. I loved it. I loved being so close, really seeing the movements of the dancers. I loved how the movements were so everyday: walking, running, jumping, turning, twisting. I loved that Cynthia Loemij, one of the two female dancers, was wearing the same kind of Nike Free running shoes I had on my own feet.
Vortex temporum, or the maelstrom of life - I could feel it in my bones.
